Potassium Silicate (Silica and Potash) is a bio stimulant that provides plants with the following benefits:

• Improves nutrient uptake and transportation.
• Increases resistance to fungal and insect attack by strengthening cell walls.
• Increases stress resistance.
• Increases chlorophyll production aiding photosynthesis and increases uptake of available CO2.

When using this for 1000L reservoirs (large quantities of nutrient) it can be uneconomical to use recommended doses, I have found that even in smaller quantities- 75mL per 1000L - which is the rate I’ve been using, this silica still has noticeable effects on yield, plant health and pest resistance (some is better than none).

Dosage Rate*: 4-5ml per 10 litres of water

Add Potassium Silicate solution to plain water, mix thoroughly and rest for 15 minutes.
Add nutrient to this solution, mix thoroughly and rest for 15 minutes.
Test pH and adjust to 6.

*Dosage may vary depending on the crop stage (flowering/fruiting) the plant type and purpose of application.

Targeted Application Rates per 100 Liters

• For Maximum Yield (0.5 mmol Si):
  Use approximately 18.5 mL. Research suggests this level provides the maximum yield response for crops like cucumbers; increasing it further does not necessarily increase yield. 
• For Optimal Fruit Quality (0.75 mmol Si): Use approximately 28 mL. This is the recommended maximum limit for certain fruits to prevent "bloom," a dull, waxy appearance that can lower the grade of the fruit. 
• For Maximum Disease Resistance (1.7 mmol Si): Use approximately 63 mL.
  This higher concentration (roughly equivalent to 100 ppm Si) is the identified optimum for suppressing pathogens like powdery mildew.

Potting Mix
Dosage Rate: 0.5-1% or 5-0ml per litre of water
Minimum dilution 1:200

Foliar
2-3ml per litre of water.
Do not reapply within 7 days of last application
Minimum dilution 1:250

 Hoocho’s Post Note: A note on pH balancing, I use a ratio of 3:1 potassium silicate 32% to phosphoric acid 85% and this generally brings the pH back down to the starting pH of your water.

This will depend on your water, but it’s a good starting point.

eg: If I use 75mL potassium silicate in my 1000L res, I will balance it back down with 25mL of phosphoric acid 85%.

This works most of the time on my rain water.
